In today's fitness conscious world, many people forget one key element - FUN! Below are a few examples of fun activities.
Fencing, the art of swordsmanship, has been practiced for centuries. First, it was to train for deadly combat - the duel. Now, it is for Olympic gold. Through fencing, you can acquire the reflexes of a boxer, the legs of a high-jumper, and the concentration of a tournament chess player. The sport develops agility, strength, speed, and cunning. And because it the speed of its action, it is considered the fastest martial sport. But, most importantly, it's fun! - courtesy of the United States Fencing Association
Ballet was derived from fencing. Few people realize that the grace and poise of a ballerina actually came from an ancient martial art. Yet despite its bloody beginnings as a dueling sport, fencing is one of the safest sports in which to participate. It is truly a lifetime sport. People from the ages of 14 to 90 participate. There is wheelchair fencing and fencing for the blind.
Many who claim to hate country music love line dancing. It is an aerobic activity that helps improve coordination, grace, and poise. The appeal for singles is that you can do it alone. Line dancing includes everything from fast moving dances that make you sweat like Earthquake, Muddy Waters, and Boot Scoot to very elegant dances such as Tina's Waltz and the Louise Hustle. Barn Dance is always fun because you change partners constantly during the dance. To undo the stigma of heavy drinking and smoking, some club owners have introduced nonsmoking and non drinking bars such as The Crossroads
