Amelia Phillips considers herself a Renaissance Woman. Born as a military brat, she has experienced things many do not. Moving every 6 months to two years exposes you to many ways of life, customs, cultural norms and attitudes along with regional expectations. Ms. Phillips' professional life has been a conglomeration of fields. Amelia graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Astronautical Engineering and a Bachelors in Archaeology (yes, they offer that at MIT with cross registration at Harvard). Her first aspiration was to be an astronaut so she took an engineering job at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA.
In the interim the Challenger exploded and changed the lives of many space lovers. Her next career of choice was as a real estate broker and mortgage broker. Here Amelia experienced culture shock. Talk about differences in subcultures! Being an engineer and being a realtor are two very different kettles of fish.
For the last six years Ms. Phillips has lived in northern Idaho as a member of the adjunct faculty of the local colleges, as a consultant, and as a technical writer. She is constantly learning new things, new approaches, and new applications. Currently Ms. Phillips is completing her Masters degree on line and teaches two classes remotely. Her skill in establishing strong long distance relationships is one of her many strengths.
Olympic and period fencing (17th and 18th century) are some of her hobbies. Amelia also does country western line dancing, loves rhythm and blues, jazz, cross country skiing, and sailing.
Feel free to email Amelia She would love it!
